Secondly, you know that you must eat a
healthy diet, duh! You know that a lot of
sweets are bad for you. You know fatty foods
will cause you to gain fat, again, duh! You
also know that if you eat more calories than
the amount of calories your body requires
each day that you will gain weight. So, why
can't you lose weight? Stop thinking—it's a
simple question.
Before I tell you why you can't lose weight,
I want you to call your friends and invite
them over to read this with you. It is
absolutely amazing stuff. Call your Aunt
Betty who sells mail-order weight loss
products, tell your overweight cousin to put
down the Snicker bar and Diet Coke and to
read along with you. Are you ready? Okay.
The reason why you can't lose weight is
because you don't really want to! Ouch!
Okay, they may have hurt a little, but get
over it!
I know, you hate me. But the fact is, you
know that exercising and a healthy diet will
cause you to lose weight, right? A+B=C.
Don't get me wrong, I know losing weight is
not an easy thing for many folks, but it
doesn't have to be this way. Figure out the
exact amount of calories your body needs
each day and don't go over that amount, and
then sprinkle in some exercise along the
way. However, you already know these things.
So why don't you just do it?
All around the world, there are people who
are extremely obese, with medical conditions
that really complicate things. I am not a
medical expert, so all that I am saying here
is not for people with those conditions. No,
I am speaking to the people who know that
they can lose weight, but choose not to do
so, or choose to make excuses. If you want
to lose weight, then let's get started.
One of the biggest problems in trying to
lose weight is time and belief. Let's face
it, we live in an instant-gratification
society. We want it all, and we want it now.
We want that perfect body, and we want it
right away. But I wonder just how many of
you truly believe that you can lose the
amount of weight you desire.
I want you to imagine the body you believe
you will have if you can reach your weight
loss goals. Now, what if you knew, beyond
any doubt, that that body is what you will
have? This is the key, if you absolutely
knew you could achieve those results, I
mean, really, really, really knew, then I
believe that you would stick to any weight
loss routine. And the time frame would no
longer be an issue.
Your new look is there, waiting. If you have
thought about that body you want and seen it
with your mind's eye, then it is there. It
is not maybe there; it simply exists, and
all you have to do at this point is to take
the path that will lead you to it. And if
you will, your new look will make its way
toward you.
Once you make that all-important decision,
you will break from your current path and
begin heading down another.
Each day, know that there is going to be
sacrifice. I want you to now commit yourself
to giving up your life for the next 30 days.
Huh? Yes, if you will do this I promise you
will lose weight. And then you can extend
that time to how ever long it takes to lose
the total amount of weight you want to lose.
Come on, 30 days never hurt anyone. I have
always said that if your today is much like
your yesterday and the day before that, and
the day before that, and the day before
that, and the day before that, then you
simply are not living, and nothing will ever
change. If you do not do something
different, starting today, 30 days from now
you will look back and wish you had put
forth the effort. And this is a cycle that
plays out in nearly everyone's life. We sit
around thinking, if only this or that.
Here is an unmistakable truth about
life—nothing changes unless we choose to
change things. An object at rest will remain
at rest until a force moves it. An object in
motion will stay in motion until a force
stops it.
If you placed a marble on a completely flat
surface that extended into eternity and then
rolled a marble, that marble would go on
forever unless some force, such as the
friction between the marble and the surface,
stopped it. Furthermore, that rock sitting
in you backyard will never move unless some
force, such as yourself, moves it. Be that
force which moves yourself toward your
goals, not the force which stops you from
achieving your dreams. It's basic physics,
folks.
I promise you, with all my might, that you
will never be happy if you are not doing
something worthwhile. If you are not
involved, totally passionate, in something
then nothing extraordinary will happen in
your life—not now, not ever.
If you will lay it all on the line, playing
to the final whistle blows, you simply
cannot be defeated. Thirty days from now
there is a new look waiting for you. Your
ordinary, uneventful life ends today.
This is your opportunity to reach deep
inside and achieve greatness. Can you
remember the last time you felt good about
yourself? What you decide at this very
moment will determine how you feel thirty
days from now. You can continue on your
current path, or you can experience a whole
other very soon.
In everyone's life there is that one day,
that one moment, in which we make a decision
to do something different. For you, that
day, that moment, has come. May you have the
courage and the passion, on this very day,
to believe in that which most assuredly
awaits.
